Outdoor solar FAQ

Questions before you head outside.

Clear guidance on solar charging, product selection, weather protection and device compatibility.

How does LINKSOLAR outdoor solar gear work?
LINKSOLAR integrates solar collection into outdoor gear such as tents, backpacks, wearable hats and camp equipment. Real-world output varies with sunlight, shade, panel angle, temperature and the connected device.
Which solar gear is best for hiking, camping or a basecamp?
For hiking and everyday movement, choose a 13W or 30W solar backpack based on charging needs. Solar fan hats add airflow and solar audio hats support open-ear listening. For basecamp stays, choose the 52W tent for 2–3 people or the roomier 120W tent for 3–4 people.
Do solar tents and solar backpacks work on cloudy days?
They can still produce electricity in cloudy conditions, but output is usually lower than in strong direct sunlight. A compatible power bank can collect available energy as conditions change.
Can a solar backpack charge a phone directly?
Yes, a compatible phone can charge through the backpack USB output when sufficient sunlight is available. Because direct charging may be interrupted by shade, using a compatible power bank first can provide a more stable setup.
What is the difference between the 13W and 30W solar backpacks?
Both offer approximately 30 litres of storage. The PT-B-13W is the lighter everyday option, while the PT-B-30W uses two deployable solar panels and provides higher-output USB options under suitable conditions.
What can the LINKSOLAR solar tents charge or power?
Both solar-tent junction boxes provide two USB-A outputs up to 18W per port, one USB-C output up to 18W and one DC5521 output up to 50W. Connected devices must match the selected connector, voltage and power requirements.
Are LINKSOLAR products waterproof or weather-resistant?
Weather protection varies by product. The 52W and 120W inflatable solar tents have a confirmed 4000 mm waterproof rating for the outer tent and floor. Backpacks and audio-hat styles provide splash protection as specified; electrical ports should be kept dry and covered when not in use.
How do I choose compatible power banks, cables and devices?
Check connector type, input voltage, supported charging protocol and maximum input power. These requirements must match the relevant LINKSOLAR output; compatibility with every third-party device is not guaranteed.
What is the difference between the 52W and 120W solar tents?
The 52W model is sized for 2–3 people. The 120W model expands to 230 × 230 × 190 cm for 3–4 people and uses twelve 10W panels across four roof faces. Both use inflatable TPU air beams, a built-in smart-stop pump and a removable solar roof.
